Chlamydia in Men & Women

Testing & Treatment

According to the CDC, Chlamydia (link to https://www.cdc.gov/std/chlamydia/stdfact-chlamydia.htm) is a common STD that can infect both men and women. It can cause serious, permanent damage to a woman’s reproductive system.

Most people who have Chlamydia have no symptoms. If you do have symptoms, they may not appear until several weeks after you have sex with an infected partner. Even when Chlamydia causes no symptoms, it can damage your reproductive system. Most people experience discharge from the vagina, anus or penis and also burning during urination, much like a UTI.

You can get syphilis by direct contact with syphilis sores during vaginal, anal, or oral sex. You can find sores on or around the penis, vagina, or anus, or in the rectum, on the lips, or in the mouth.

Testing for Men & Women

According to the CDC, Gonorrhea (link to https://www.cdc.gov/std/gonorrhea/stdfact-gonorrhea.htm) is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that can infect both men and women. It can cause infections in the genitals, rectum, and throat. Like Chlamydia, a lot of men and women do not have symptoms however, damage is still being done. Symptoms of Gonorrhea are again, much like a UTI with abnormal discharge, painful urination or painful bowel movements in both men and women.
